11th JULY 10am - 4pm
MATLOCKLIVE! COMMUNITY SUMMER EVENT
CELEBRATING DIVERSITY
OPEN TO ALL INDIVIDUALS, ORGANISATIONS & WORKSHOPS
THE THEME FOR THIS YEAR IS 'ELEMENTS'
We have invited community groups to provide their own interpretations. For the first time this year we are also linking with the Highfields School “Extravaganza” showcase of artistic endeavour. We are planning to follow up last year’s successful Buskit competition, won by the Crich Carr Harmony Group, with BuskIt & Breakdancing
Busking spaces are available across the town including Hall Leys Park so we can accommodate many buskers and we encourage participants from a wide range of disciplines to take part, anything goes! If you haven’t already registered your interest please do get in touch via contact@matlocklive.co.uk we would love to hear from you.
The event will be concentrated in the Imperial Rooms and we
have a number of artistic displays including local community groups from Golding House and the Medway Centre, a dance performance by the Matlock Youth Hub, performances and displays by Castle View primary school and demonstrations by local artist David Gibbons and the returning Inspired Lacemakers. Light refreshments will be available.
As part of the promotion for the event we are planning a shop window display in the town during the preceding week and again the focus will be on interpretations of “elements”.
The weekend is the first of a series of events based on the theme which will continue through the summer and autumn culminating with the Christmas Parade at during the weekend of the
Victorian market. Further information on future events will be available at the weekend.
To get involved please download and return the MatlockLive! Interest Form. This can be returned via e-mail to matlocklive@googlemail.com or posted to the address on the form.
Make sure to tell us how you would represent the theme Elements through your chosen performance or visual arts medium.
Please contact us for more info, and please forward this to anyone who might be interested.
MatlockLive! is a Community Interest Company and as such we ensure that any surplus we generate is ploughed back into community based activities. Each presentation/workshop/performance put forward for the Summer event will be considered against the following criteria:
- Does it make a contribution to the aims of MatlockLive!
- Will it add to the diversity of the event in terms of groups and individuals involved and the media used in presentation
- Will we be able to provide suitable space and facilities necessary to support your presentation
